Her passion for education and the arts has both inspired and informed her writing life. She is a recipient of both the Associated Press Award for Arts Reporting and the United Press International Award for Best Documentary. Her in-depth reporting on learning and child health has been awarded four Excellence in Journalism awards from the Parenting Publications of America.
